Welcome to the Academy Theatre!

We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Girl’s Drama Club Academy (GDCA) or the Junior Drama Club Academy (JDCA), a vibrant community where creativity, leadership, and friendship come together. This guide outlines everything you need to know as you begin your journey toward full membership.

At GDCA or JDCA, we’re more than just a weekly club — we’re a family. We’re here to support you academically, socially, and artistically. If you ever have questions, please ask. We’re here for you!

🛠 Your First 3 Weeks: Candidate Period

As a new participant, you are considered a Candidate. You’ll spend the next three weeks exploring what it means to be part of GDCA or the JDCA. This is your chance to decide if this community is right for you.

⏳ Important Notes:

Attendance is essential. Missing a meeting restarts your probationary period.
Members Assembly is closed to non-members. You’ll gain access after induction.

✅ Membership Expectations

To become a full member, you’ll need to commit to the following:

Support the mission, values, and goals of the Academy Theatre
Attend weekly meetings consistently
Participate in events, functions, and activities
Treat fellow members as siblings — with respect and care
Stay open-minded during lessons and workshops
Respect officers, staff, and administrators
Contribute outside of meetings through rehearsal prep and creative work
Complete your Student Gift Hours (REQUIRED/MANDATORY 4 volunteers hours a month)
Pay weekly dues of $5 (starting after induction)

📜 Your Declaration Statement

At your third meeting — Declaration Week — you’ll be invited to recite the following:

“I, candidate (your name), wish to declare my interest in joining the Girl’s Drama Club Academy (or the Junior Drama Club Academy). I ask the officers of the Junior Board and members of this academy for this opportunity. I understand what is expected of me and agree to the expectations.”

A vote will take place by current active members. If accepted by vote, you’ll officially become a member!

🌟 Induction Week (Week 4)

You’ll participate in a private Induction Ceremony with your Junior Board, where you’ll:

Recite your oath and learn the Club Slogan
Receive your certificate, badge, and handbook
Join your first Members Assembly
Begin paying your weekly dues

A public Advancement Ceremony will be held later for families to celebrate your achievement.

“I, (member name), do solemnly swear to honor, respect and uphold the dignity and acknowledgement of production arts. I do also pledge to recognize and inspire creativity within myself, accept my talents and encourage the talents of my fellow club members.”
